TimeLoop is not an endless "What do I listen to next?". It is a curated journey – like an interactive radio that makes musical history tangible as a narrative.

In the age of infinite playlists and algorithmic recommendations, we often face the agony of choice but rarely the joy of true discovery. TimeLoop was developed as a counter-concept to this "playlist fatigue".

We don't see it as an app, but as a journey guided by music experts – an "interactive radio/story experience". Instead of leaving you alone to search for the next song, you can lean back and follow a carefully curated musical narrative.

2) Two Paths Through Time

Genre vs. Year

Main Timeline: infinite genre time travel (seamless, chronological forward/backward).
Time Capsule: SunLoop & MoonLoop Yearly Sets (25 tracks / 25 genres each).

2.1 The Infinite Genre Time Travel

You choose a genre (e.g. Techno) and start a long, seamlessly mixed stream. This "TimeLoop Mix" leads you continuously from the present back to the origins.

2.2 SunLoop & MoonLoop Yearly Sets

For every year, there are two mixes: "Sun" and "Moon". Each mix contains exactly 25 tracks – one representative song for each of the 25 core genres. These are curated snapshots.

The real magic is not just the coexistence of both modes, but the seamless transition between them.

3) Cue Points

Digital bookmarks in every song – they enable uninterrupted jumping between the main timeline and time capsules.

4) Control Philosophy

No skipping, no scrubbing: A shield for the curated journey and the dramaturgy of discovery.

5) Foundation

Design Decision: Integrity of the Journey

What you can do

Choose a genre as a starting point.
Select a year + Sun/Moon to jump into a time capsule.
Within a time capsule: switch years forward/back (e.g. 1999 → 2000 → 2001 … or vice versa).
Jump back into the main timeline at predefined points.
Determine the direction of the timeline (further into the past, or back to the future).

What you deliberately cannot do

Search for artists or tracks.
Select individual tracks from a list.
Fast forward or scrub within the song.
Jump directly from one time capsule to the other (Moon ↔ Sun).
Skip the current track (Skip button).

The Magic of Time Travel (Seamless Jump)

Crossfade + Cue Points: The track continues playing without interruption – only the context changes. Switches are deliberately limited: Main Timeline ⇄ Time Capsule (Sun or Moon). No direct jump between Sun and Moon.

Why you cannot skip

These limitations are not a flaw, but a shield for the curated journey. Hundreds of experts have laid out musical paths – skipping would destroy the dramaturgy.

Focus instead of decision stress • Discovery instead of endless searching • Coherence instead of fragmented listening

Technically, the Cue Point System enables fluid transitions – and deliberately sets limits to keep the journey consistent.

From 600 Nominations to 50 Final Tracks

A multi-stage protocol: Council → Two Phases → Community Voting → Top 2 per Genre.

1) TimeLoop Council

300 members nominate exactly 2 tracks per vintage (First + Second Pick).

2) Two-Phase System

Guaranteed diversity (First Picks) + organic passion (Second Picks).

3) Community Voting

Global Up/Down Voting → Genre Ranking → Top 2 per Genre.

4) Result

50 Finalists/Year → Split into SunLoop (25) & MoonLoop (25).

Structure (System) meets Passion (Expertise). Limits prevent niche genres from being pushed out.

Introduction: The Goal

A perfectly balanced musical universe for every year, defined by 25 genres × 2 tracks. This "Genre Twin Pair" forms the foundation of the annual SunLoop and MoonLoop mixes.

1) The Curators: TimeLoop Council

300 members nominate two tracks per vintage: a First Pick (with genre assignment) and a Second Pick (free).

2.1 Phase 1: First Picks – Guaranteed Diversity

Each nomination is assigned to one of the 25 genres; a maximum of 12 First Picks are possible per genre. Once a genre reaches 12, it is closed for further First Picks. Result: 25 genres × 12 = 300.

2.2 Phase 2: Second Picks – Organic Passion

One free nomination per member, without limits. Popular genres may be deliberately overrepresented to reflect the focal points of a year.

3) Final Selection: Community Voting

All 600 candidates go into anonymous Up/Down voting. This creates a ranking per genre. The top 2 per genre become the final 50 tracks.

4) Sun/Moon Division

One track per genre is assigned to SunLoop and the other to MoonLoop (25 tracks each). This creates two distinct listening experiences that simultaneously enable the time travel jumps.
